Here is a "safe" way to do ANY unit conversion - "safe" in thesense that you are unlikely to get a wrong answer. This works forANY units of the same type, not just weight or mass.Let's assume, for example, that you want to convert 37 meters to millimeters. Youknow that 1 meter = 1000 millimeter. What you do is multiply the 37meters by a fraction that is equal to one; the fraction containsboth units:37 m x 1000 mm/1mThe meters cancel, so you are left only with 37,000 mm.By the way, if you multiply with the reciprocal (in the aboveexample, 1 m / 1000 mm), the units DON'T cancel, and you get unitsof square meters / mm, which is technically correct, but useless. If you are not sure, you can try it both ways.
