Modern building materials make it possible to equip soft flat roofs without resorting to the usual roll materials, and this significantly reduces the time of work and provides a uniform, reliable roof covering.
In such works, roofing mastic is used based on polymer and bituminous binders, the main distinguishing advantage of which is the complete absence of seams.
Types of roofing mastics
roofing masticMastic is a waterproofing material that is obtained by mixing binders and mineral fillers of organic origin. In addition, various additives are added to the mastics to improve the technical characteristics of the material. In the air, the roofing mastic turns into a smooth elastic film within an hour.
There are two types of coatings: cold and hot. Hot mastics are distinguished by different heat resistance, determined by the maximum temperature.
Cold mixtures are produced on the basis of a solvent and can be used when carrying out roofing works without heating at a positive air temperature. If the air temperature drops below +5 degrees, they are heated to 50-70.
Both hot and cold mixes are highly water resistant and have excellent adhesive properties. There are mastics that are good at resisting the formation of mold and mildew. In the role of a binder, petroleum bitumens are used, which are obtained artificially from petroleum and its refined products.
By purpose, mastics are subdivided into:
gluing waterproofing and roofing materials;
used directly for roofing;
used for the device of vapor barrier, they are called waterproofing - asphalt.
According to the dilution method, mastics for roofing work are divided into three groups:
diluted with water;
diluted with organic solvents;
diluted with solvents, containing liquid organic substances.
