Why is thyroid disease more common in women?

This mostly occurs in women after pregnancy and before menopause. Iodine deficiency can cause complications in the female reproductive system than in the males. This is because, women are more sensitive to hormonal changes and they react to them faster. Pregnant women are very sensitive to iodine deficiency because the foetus begins to form its thyroid glands and takes iodine from the mother. Its highly recommenned to use iodized salt.
