tourist sign ● two horizontal stripes of white color separated by a strip of color (red, blue, green, yellow) of the same width. It has a size of about 12 x 12 cm. It is used to mark hiking trails. Long-distance or ridge routes are marked in red, major routes in blue, local routes in green and short routes in yellow, connecting routes and abbreviations in yellow. The marking has been in place in the Czech Republic since 1889 (since then, the Czech Tourists' Club has been in charge of it, the first route was marked on 11 May 1889). The first route led from Štěchovice to Svatojánské streams (Czech Republic). The routes are two-way and the markers are painted so that they are visible from both directions of the route. The maximum spacing between the signs is 250 m. In Slovakia, unlike in the Czech Republic, the distance to the destination is not stated in kilometers on the direction signs, but in time. There is also a black mark in Poland. (tuxedo)
