How to Polish Granite
Granite is a beautiful material to use as countertops and surfaces for your home. If well taken care of, it can become even more beautiful and extend its life for a very long time. Here’s how you polish granite on your own.
Remove all the items that’s placed on top of the granite.
Use a clean sponge and apply mild detergent to strip away the oil and the grease from the granite surfaces. Rinse with a damp cloth and let the granite dry completely.

Rent or hire someone to polish the surface of your granite using a specially-made granite polisher. A specific kind of abrasive material is then attached to the polisher. The finer the abrasive, the finer the smoothness of the polishing.Use protective gear such as a dust mask, gloves, safety goggles and ear protectors while using the granite polisher.
Should you be hesitant to do the abrasive polishing yourself, you can always call the professionals to do it for you.
Dust off the surface and apply a granite polisher on the surface of the granite. Granite polisher is available in most household shops. Apply using a soft, clean cloth and let dry completely.
Purchase a bottle of granite sealer, which is available in most hardware stores. They come in spray bottles. Read the instructions carefully before using it.
Use a soft and dry cloth to rub in the sealer on the granite surface. Allow it to soak in for around 15 minutes, and then wipe off the excess using a soft, dry piece of cloth.
To test if you’ve done everything correctly, sprinkle a few drops of water over your newly-polished granite. If the water drops bead (retain its circular form), then congratulations, you’ve done it correctly. If the beads spread out and let themselves be absorbed into the granite, then you need to add more sealant on your granite surface.
