How to Install Training Wheels
There will come a time when you would have to teach your child to ride a bike without any supporting equipment, but if he or she is still small, you need to put training wheels on her bicycle first. These wheels support the bike, preventing your darling angel from toppling over. Here’s how to install training wheels properly.
What You’ll Need:
Child’s bicycle
Training wheel set (comes with two wheels and braces that mount to the bicycle)
Two crescent wrenches
Bicycle helmet
Procedure:
Examine the rear wheel of the bike. Remember that even if bikes are made the same way, the wheels can still come in different sizes: 12-inch, 16-inch, 20-inch, 24-inch and 26-inch. It’s crucial to know what size wheels your child’s bike has. Once you know it, go to a local bicycle store and find out which size of training wheels fit it.

Look at the bolts that hold the rear wheel to the frame of the bike. These are found on either side of the wheel. Using a crescent wrench, unscrew one of the bolts properly. You will need to hold the other bolt on the other side with another crescent wrench.
Get the training wheel set. The two training wheels are smaller than the rear wheel, each with a metal brace with a hole at one end. This hole will be where you’ll attach the wheels to the frame.
Get one of the training wheel assembly, then put it on the place where you removed the bolt, attaching it through the hole. Put the bolt back, then tighten it using the crescent wrench. Don’t completely tighten it all the way, though.
Repeat this on the other side, using the other training wheel assembly.
Adjust the two training wheels in such ad way that they’re above the ground slightly when the bicycle is standing upright. When one training wheel touches the ground, the bike tilts a bit.
Secure the bolts, tightening them as tightly as possible, to avoid accidents.
With training wheels, you can keep your darling child safe while riding a bike for the first few times. Soon, she’ll be able to ride without these.
