How to Install Tiles
Installing the tile is easy. It can make any home better looking than before. It will give you a modern and clean look.

Check first the surface where you will install it before you start the installation. It should support the tile and with no loose areas and bubbles. An example example would be for you to see if it is a bad concrete. You need to smoothen it first with concrete.

It is different when you use wood. You need to place concrete board tape joints. Make sure you place them correctly.

Vinyl is also different. You need to remove the vinyl. You would also need to clean the surface thoroughly. Make sure you remove all adhesives and any loose paints.

Plan the number of tiles you need to buy. This is done by measuring the width and height of the area you will b placing the tiles. You can then divide it by the size of the tiles that you are buying.

Tile sizes vary from 4.25 to 6 inches. Make sure you buy some extra tiles for wastage. This will be be for the corners and as edge fillers. This is also set aside for the times you need to replace only one or two tiles.

The design of tiles change very often. You will find it hard to look for the same tile if you don’t buy extra ones. You need to then clean the area thoroughly.

Allow the surface to dry before installing. It is advisable to cut the power first if you will be installing near an electrical outlet. Make sure you remove the cpver also.

Plan your installation by dry fitting your tiles. Dry fit along the area where you will install it. This will let you maximize the full tiles and avoid cutting and installing partial tiles.

You cannot avoid these instances. It is time consuming to cut but it’s worth it especially if you are installing in parallel walls. You can then add the recommended adhesive of the manufacturer of the tiles.

Use a trowel to apply the adhesive. Apply the adhesive one at a time per tile. Press firmly the tile to ensure that it attaches. Allow for spaces in between the tiles.

It is recommended to finish the tile per row. You can then move on as you cover the entire area. Use a tile cutter or tile saw to cut partial tiles.

The last step would be to proceed with grouting. Mix your grout according to the manufacturer’s instruction. Use a rubber float to apply the grout in between the tiles.

Wipe excess with the rubber float. Use this in a 45 degree angle. Wait for about half an hour to let the grout partially set up. You can then use a damp sponge to wipe away excess gout. Make sure you also wipe the surface of the tiles.

Pack and shape the grout in between the tiles. This is done using a mere Popsicle stick. Wait for the grout to dry to finish the cleaning. Clean it using a wet sponge. It will take about 3-4 days to seal the grout.
