: History History and Heritage: Bagmara Upazila is one of the proud places of North Bengal Rajshahi. It is said that there was a time when the forest was full here. There were as many tigers in the forest as there were tigers. One day a man was attacked by a tiger and he killed the tiger with the stick in his hand. As a result, this upazila was named "Bagmara". It is also heard that during the British rule, the upazila was renamed as "Bagmara" as vast forests were cut down and settlements were established. It is also said that the present Bagmara Thana building was a huge garden on the land. The area is also known as "Bagmara" due to the construction of the police station building by cutting the garden. Taherpur is known in the country and abroad as the ancient place of Bagmara. It is known that Taher Bhuiyan, one of the Bar Bhuiyans of Bengal, came to Taherpur in a group and was named "Taherpur" after him. When Taher Bhuiyan refused to pay tribute to the British rulers, the British army defeated Taher Bhuiyan in battle and gave the kingdom of Taherpur to Raja Kangs Narayan in return for rent. In 1472, King Kangs Narayan officially celebrated the first autumn festival in the subcontinent. Every year since then, Hindus have been observing Durga Puja as the main festival of their religion.
