If you test for diabetes on an empty stomach in the morning after eating normal food at night and find that your blood sugar level is less than 5.6 mmol, then you have to assume that you do not have any diabetes. But if the sugar level is more than 5.6 but less than 7.8 millimoles, then you have a high risk of getting diabetes. This is called a border line or margin point. So it is called Border Line Diabetes. In addition, if the blood sugar level is more than 7.8 mmol , it can be considered as diabetes. However, an empty stomach test alone is not enough to diagnose diabetes. After being diagnosed on an empty stomach, 75 grams of glucose should be dissolved in water and two hours later the blood sugar level should be checked again. In this case, if the sugar level is 6.8 mmol or less , then there is no diabetes. If it is greater than 7.8 , but 11 millimoles or less , then Borderline is considered diabetes. And if the sugar level is more than 11 millimoles , then it is considered as diabetes
