It is being written on the packet (2 years 6 months to 5 years) Source: (Favorite.com) GlaxoSmithKline Bangladesh is selling Junior Horlicks all over the country as per their wish without following the legal process. In order to implement the marketing strategy and evade the law, this time Jr. Horlicks has started cheating with the children with their food. Horlicks applicable for one age by changing the tag is being sold to children of other ages. The words 'For children over five' are printed on the back of the blue jar of Junior Horlicks made for children. However, this change came on the 1st of May. Earlier, the same jar mentioned the word applicable for children aged 2-5 years. Banglanews investigation revealed that GlaxoSmithKline made this decision after enacting the law recently approved by the Bangladesh government on breast milk substitutes , baby food , commercially prepared baby food and its consumption equipment (marketing control). The law regulates the marketing of food prepared for children aged 2-5 years. The law enacts a number of policies for the printing of jar wrappers , pictures , words and letters. The changes required approval from the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institute (BSTI) and a small government fee. To avoid this, the company has changed the age in the packet of the same junior Horlicks without thinking about the age-based health care of the children. A jar of Horlicks, an old junior of children aged 2-5 years , was found to contain milk , flour , dried barley , sugar , minerals and vitamins. The same material was found in the changed new jar. This food quality of Horlicks is talked about by the Professor of the Institute of Nutrition and Food Science, University of Dhaka. With Golam Mawla. He said that if any natural ingredient is dried, its quality is lost. Whether it is 2-5 years or more , Horlix does not help digestion, on the contrary, it reduces digestion , because it does not contain any natural ingredients. Increasing 'digestion' is a commercial thing. And the food that is suitable for 2-5 years does not play any special role for 5 year olds. Meanwhile, the new Horlicks, like the old Horlicks, are rich in vitamins B1 , B2 , B6, iron and iodine. Only age has changed. And confused are the thousands of mothers in Bangladesh who are regularly feeding their children Junior Horlicks. Mohammadpur housewife Tania Ahmed has been bringing her 4-year-old son Junior Horlicks to her son since she was two years old. Like every month, in May, he bought a packet of junior Horlicks from the market for his son and fed him. Suddenly the eyes fell on the pack 'for children above five years'. He was confused to see the age change in a similar jar. He was confused about whether to feed the baby Horlicks or not. When the complaint came to the hands of banglanews, the housewife called the hotline number of Horlix (096333465) on behalf of the consumer sej banglanews in disguise. Asked , “ Suddenly the age of the packet changed. I could feed this Horlicks to a 3 year old child. ” The answer came , " It's already Horlicks. Feel free to feed any child of any age. ” This statement from the Horlicks hotline is recorded. After that Banglanews officially contacted Rumana Ahmed, Communications Manager of GlaxoSmithKline Bangladesh. He avoided the matter. He said that there is a ban on the upper house to say anything openly in this regard. Rumana Ahmed did not respond to an e-mail sent by Banglanews. Meanwhile, a source said that with the connivance of some BSTI officials , the Horlix is being marketed without changing the quality of the Horlicks, leaving the packaging the same , changing the age tag. According to the source , BSTI is aware of the whole matter but is not taking action against them. The investigation has revealed that GlaxoSmithKline Bangladesh is violating several other sections of the law not only due to age change but also due to this change. Section 4 (a) of the Act provides that no tidy box is provided with Junior Horlicks to attract the attention of children, even if these foods are not subject to any discount coupons, discounts or free items . Section 14 (1) of the Act states that if a company commits such offense, the director , manager , secretary , partner , officer and employee of the company shall be deemed to have committed the offense. However, due to the violation of this law, no action has been taken by any authorized body yet.
