The Guide to Badminton

1 Answer

Answer :

Four Badminton Shoes, Two Players And A Shuttlecock

Any two folks with a pair of rackets and a shuttlecock can play a game of badminton. But to play a game of good badminton, one that is worth watching, now that’s something else. That kind of game requires great skill, attainable only through unyielding devotion to the sport. There are probably thousands of badminton players in the world today, but only a handful can call themselves champions of the game.

Badminton is a type of raquet sport. It is played either by a pair of opposing players (badminton singles) or two opposing pairs (badminton doubles), who must take their positions on opposite sides of a rectangular court divided by a net. To score points, the players must strike a shuttlecock from their side of the court, have it fly across the net, and hope that it lands on the ground on the opponent’s side.

The shuttlecock may be struck only once by a player before it passes over the net.

How Do You Stroke Your Shuttlecock?

Badminton is a unique sport in the sense that it offers a wide range of basic strokes, all of which require a high level of playing skill for them to be performed effectively. Strokes may be executed either backhand or forehand. This applies to all except for the high serve, a stroke exclusive to the forehand technique. Highly seasoned players often play specific strokes on the forehand side using a backhand-style hitting action and vice versa.

The kind of stroke used depends on how near the net is to the shuttlecock and whether the shuttlecock in midair is above or below the topmost level of the net. Once mastery of the strokes has been achieved, the player can hit the shuttlecock to and from any part of the court, softly and powerfully as required.
