The conventional milads were discovered in 605 sects in 625 AH. Almost all the scholars of the four Madhhabs agree that it is a bid'at. Even Mujaddid Alfe Chani , Allama Hayat Sindhi , Rashid Ahmad Gangohi , Ashraf Ali Thanvi , Mahmudul Hasan Deubandi , Ahmad Ali Saharanpuri and other ulama of the subcontinent have termed the conventional Milad ceremony as bid'at and gunah. There are some people of the present age who are struggling to prove that Milad is obligatory ( ?) . For example, in the book 'Irrefutable Proof of Milad and Qiyam', 7 verses and verses from the Qur'an have been presented for Milad and 4 for Qiyam. 3/164 , 33/9 , 93/11 , 9/128 , 94/4 , 61/8 , 10/56 for Milad and 48/9 , 94/4 , 3/191 , 2/114 for Qiyam respectively. He also wants to prove that ( 1) the angels, (2) the previous prophets and messengers, (3) our prophet himself, (4) Khulafaaye Rashedin, (5) Sahabaye Keram, and (6) the imams and mujtahids have all performed milad or issued fatwas for him. . In fact, all these are nothing but misinterpretations of the Qur'an and Hadith. The biography of Rasul (sm) and Khulafa Rashedin is a big proof that Milad -e-Qiyam did not exist at that time. Imam Malik (RA) said that the things which were not accepted as 'Deen' in the time of Rasoolullah (sm) and his Sahabis , will not be accepted as 'Deen' even today. The person who introduced a new practice in Islam in the name of religion , then judged it as a good deed or 'bid'at hasanah' , assumed that the Messenger of Allah (sm) had betrayed the duty of his mission '(Al-Insaaf , p . 32).
