Look at Arbor day foundation....on the internet...........they are calling it beautybush..........comes in   pink.........called kolkwitzia amabilis.  Do you still have contact with people living there as next spring when the plants start with prebuds you can ask them to cut you some and put damp papertowels on the ends and send you some and just dig a hole and plant them right away........I have done with many woody plants some take some don't take.
