Is it okay/recommended to buy a ball python at 3 years old?

Im looking to buy a ball python. I have had a baby before. But they take too long to grow, and I enjoy them more when they are bigger. Would it be okay to buy one at 3 years old.  Are there any reasons not to? Or that they should be bought at babies?

Can't find any information on that. Why not ask a breeder or contact someone at your local zoo to find out if it's okay to adopt an older ball python.
