You could try searching political websites (like CNN, Fox, Politico, NBC, etc).. In their articles about the auto industry they often have statistics. They will probably have numbers on how many people are directly and secondarily employed by the auto industry (ala their workers, and workers of businesses that depend on the auto industry). They would also have predictions of what may happen should they go under. The thing to keep in mind is that most of those sites are fairly biased (NBC and Fox in particular). CNN and Politico wouldn’t be TOO bad, though individual reporters usually carry their own bias (you’ll be hard pressed to find someone who’s either dead center on the issue, or a good enough reporter to leave their bias at the door).
