Um, religion? My sisters have both circumcised their sons, for no other reason than “so he’ll look like everyone else”. And I’ve heard the hygiene reasoning, but I don’t buy it. Female genitalia has a great many nooks and crannies, and yet we manage to be clean and healthy. (I have an [almost entirely] facetious theory than men are horny bastards because they’ve had a great deal of potentially wonderful nerve endings whacked off, and they spend the rest of their lives trying to make up for the loss of that exquisite sensitivity.)
