Absolutely not. I do not think corporal punishment is necessary in the home either. Parents are adults. They are supposed to be able to outthink the child-not descend to the child’s level. There are plenty of books that provide help and support for parents without these skills. School has no excuse for using corporal punishment. There are plenty of ways to deal with misbehavior including isolating the child, removing the child from school via suspension or, finally, expulsion.
