answer:Google Scholar is a broad, free resource containing all (theoretically) published U.S. court opinions. There is no way to see if these are still good law, however, without shepardizing it (term meaning a search in Lexis (a pay site) to find out the procedural history of the case). However, it’s great to start. I would also look on nolo.com, which has a vast area of free resources for non-lawyers, and will also point you to other good sources. Matrimonial and family law are state-based, however, so it really makes a difference which state you’re in – a case from out of state won’t really help you unless you’re trying to get a general idea of what arguments might be made against just in a survey context. State bar associations also have some good resources, if you know a lawyer.
