answer:Have you set it up as a long document. So you aren’t trying to create one long doc? Word doesn’t like huge docs and is apt to crash. You have to set it up using an outline. I feel for you. You can set it so the first page of the doc doesn’t have a page number, but I don’t know about how to do that for the first page of each chapter. Do you have any technical support in your library? We have people you can go to and they are experts in Word/Excel and the like. I knew one of these ladies and sat with her to get my final thesis looking spiffy because I too would have been bald without her. I would try to find a Word expert at your uni library. In the end it will save you hours of hair pulling.
