answer:I’ve recently been looking into the effects of chlorinated tap water on vegetable plants. One interesting point I found was that the typically mentioned 24 hour period to evaporate the chlorine was a function of the surface area. Given the same volume of water, a wide, shallow container will dissipate the chlorine faster than a deep, narrow container. Also, using a garden hose to spray the plants reduces the chlorine in-flight because of the increased surface area of all the water droplets. As an experiment, if you have a squirter on your kitchen sink, you could use that to fill a wide container. Then compare the results to how you usually do it. Personally, I wouldn’t worry about dust and bacteria in the air-at least not at my house. Maybe putting the container in the oven would help.
