Working principle of cam: A cam is mechanical rotating machine element which is used for converting one motion in to another. A cam is a curved or grooved surface which mates with a follower and imparts motion to it. In general the cam may be rotating or oscillating whereas the follower may be rotating, reciprocating or oscillating.
