Define: (i) Apparent power (ii) Real power
(i) Apparent power
It is the product of rms values of applied voltage and circuit current.
Unit: volt-ampere (VA) OR kilo-volt-ampere (kVA) OR Mega-volt-ampere (MVA)
S = VI = I2 Z volt-ampere (VA)
(ii)Real power
The active power is defined as the average power Pavg taken by or consumed by the given circuit.
(OR)
It is the power which is actually dissipated in the circuit resistance.
