Sometimes restless leg syndrome can be caused by and underlying condition such as an iron deficiency or peripheral neuropathy. It's thought that treating these can greatly relieve the symptoms of restless leg syndrome. There are also prescription medications that are available to reduce the symptoms of RLS. These include: Requip and Mirapex (Parkinson's disease medications), Opioids, Muscle relaxants and sleep medications, and medication for epilepsy.
