The habit consists of 3 sections: 1) starter 2) design 3) reward A starter can be time, thing, emotion, place or person / people (or any combination of all). Rewards can be physical or mental. If you have a smoking habit, do not cancel it. However, you can change it. When you find out what your starter is (When do you take a cigarette? Is it always at the same time? Always with someone? Every time you don't feel well?) And what is your reward (feeling relaxed, satisfied, better thought, ...) , you have the option to replace the design itself, ie to replace the cigarette with something else. For example, if you find that your trigger is emotion (stress) and then the reward is relaxed, you can try breathing exercises that will relax you when you feel stressed. I recommend the excellent book The power of habit, where the author Charles Duhigg discusses in great detail what I have bitten into here. If the book is not in the Czech version now, it will definitely be unseen.
