Sidewalk maintenance - can I defend myself?

Hello, I need advice on sidewalk maintenance at my house. My specific question is whether I can write a request or a complaint to our municipal office to stop keeping my sidewalk at my house. I know it sounds weird and everyone usually wants the exact opposite, but I have my reasons. For example, the situation from this snowy morning. The village has a busy **** who keeps the snowy sidewalks by covering them with a coulter with a blade. The sidewalk is municipal, however, the surface treatment of the sidewalk, ie cast concrete, we made a set around the whole house ourselves - and here this employee damages it for us. the length of the sidewalk some gravel from the road (and we to go to clear it) and to make matters worse, it damaged our ********* lights. On the side of the sidewalk, we have a 3-meter-long conical dwarf white spruce growing on the front garden, on which we have ********* lights (nets) - and of course this worker tore it up this morning with his unprofessional handling of the tractor while shoveling snow. Is it possible to do something? Somehow to defend ...? We personally visited our mayor in the morning and he told us that the damage to the lighting could not be compensated and that nothing could be done, because the land on which there is a sidewalk is the property of the municipality and the municipality has a duty to take care of the sidewalks ... We clueless ... or is there a chance? Can you advise ..? Thank you, Žaneta

Answer :

Yes, it is possible to enter into an agreement with the municipality that you will maintain this part of the sidewalk at your own expense. If the municipality agrees, there is nothing to stop it. If someone has damaged your property, you can claim compensation.
