If we sprayed gravel under the driveway, would it hurt the dog's feet?

There is a big pit at our driveway where the water stops all the time and we are wondering how to fill it the cheapest and easiest. Would gravel be a problem for your dog if you run around? The concrete costs too much, the paving / cobblestone plan, the smooth ground is too muddy, I don't think the gravel is good either.

If I took it out well, the dog won’t be on it 24 hours a day, it will just hang over at times. If so, I don't think it's going to hurt him.
