How to Build a Column Footing
What is it about?
Footing or “foundation” of a house is a structure or morphology that relocates an encumbrance to the ground. They are usually broken up into two main parts:
Shallow
Deep foundation
A column in construction and structural engineering is an erect structural entity that conducts through compression. Other hyperbaric chambers are called columns or arches on which the beams on the upper walls rest. A column may not always be of any support to any major structure, but its quite fulfilling and can be quite decorative.
Historically speaking…
Historically speaking, these columns have been used through the ancient Egypt as they used it as early as 2600 B.C. Some of the most prominent and elaborate columns in the ancient world like the Persians etc. have double-bull structures in their capitals. Many historical places, statues etc. are made of these columns.
Designs
Column footing has different designs. Single-piece columns that are the heaviest in construction produce many of them. Recently, columns are being made of pre-cast concrete or even brick. The production of most columns and a reduced diameter helps to make the top a little as 83%. The reduction follows the parallax effects, which the columns use to make the columns taller and upright than they are.
As the axial load on a typically straight insubstantial with its elastic property components, it increases in magnitude. The ideal column has three states - Stable equilibrium, static equilibrium, instability. If by any chance, the force is a lateral one, then the force applied within, it goes deflection, which suddenly disappears. The load, at which the neutral combination of a column is reached, is called critical or buckling load. It becomes all the more lucky and necessary when there is a minimal or slight change of uncontrollably gathering. Then it causes, erratically growing deflections leading to total eclipse. For a column footing, the equation of static equilibrium, which in the form of differential equation, can be figured out from the deflected shape and load on the column.
When a column is found to be too long for your liking, it has to be extended or sliced at the construction site. A reinforced concrete column is extended according to your own requirements. Welding extends a column footing. It can be done with the help of a covered sheet metal plate
fastened onto the two subsequent timber sections. These are required to share or divide copious or heavy columns and wall loads over the whole building area. This is done to lower the contact pressure when compared with traditional spread footings.
The foundation of the house should be made depending on where and when the house was built. Concrete walls can also be used for canonical wall foundation. Steel rods are reinforced and concrete blocks are filled with grout. Therefore, I hope this article has helped you get a few ideas about column footing, which can be quite a tricky affair to set up.
