How to Build a Skateboard Mini-Ramp
Every excellent skateboarder starts out with simple skills and tricks, and before you conquer halfpipes, quarterpipes and superpipes, you should practice first on a mini-ramp. You can easily make one in the comfort of your driveway and because it’s small and simple, moving and storing it away is very easy. Here’s how to build a skateboard mini-ramp.

Wood screws
Power screwdriver
2×4 wood pieces
3/8 inch plywood
3/4 inch plywood
Skil-saw
Pencil
Ruler
Sandpaper
Mini-ramp plan (optional)
Procedure:
Decide on the type of skateboard mini-ramp you want. Many people just purchase ready made mini-ramp plans online, since these aren’t very pricey. If you want to create your own mini-ramp though, you can sketch your own plan.

Plan how big you want your skateboard ramp to be. Most mini-ramps are a little over two feet tall and eight feet wide.
Find a workspace where you can erect your mini-ramp. Better choose a place that’s big enough so you can spread your materials out. It’s also good to work under a shade, so if it rains, you can still continue working.
Lay a piece of 3/4 inch plywood on an even surface. Using a pencil and ruler, draw a straight line up its right-hand side, measuring to the mini-ramp’s highest point, usually 24 to 28 inches.
Draw another line going to the left, towards the plywood board’s center, at least two feet. This will be the deck.
Go to the bottom of the mini-ramp, and sketch a straight line that’s about five feet. This will be your mini-ramp’s bottom.
To connect the deck’s top to the bottom’s endpoint, use a curved line for the ramp. If you have a half-circle drawing tool, use it, so your curve will be more accurate.
Using a skil-saw, cut along the lines, making the curves smooth. Be very careful when handling the saw.
Repeat this on a second piece of plywood, for the other side.
Connect these two sides using the 2×4 wood pieces. Use wood screws and a power screwdriver. Put the 2×4s at intervals that are near enough to support the mini-ramp.
For the actual mini-ramp section, use a single sheet of 3/8 inch plywood. Bend it, so it’ll fit the curve.
Finish and smoothen the rough edges with sandpaper.
A Few Tips
Your mini-ramp can be used for skating and bike tricks, too.
Wear safety clothing, such as goggles and gloves, for protection.
If you’re leaving the ramp outside, put it on a cement surface or blocks, so the wood won’t rot easily.
Painting the wood also protects the wood better and smoothens the ramp.
