How to Build a Deck Box
A deck box is an article or an item used for storing various outdoor assortments of toys, poolside soft toys or rubber toys, sports items, deck cushions, etc. It can also be used as a wonderful outdoor accessory on the home front.
The main materials required are: Pine boards of various shapes and sizes, cart nuts & bolts, screws and concrete mixture.
Tools required are: Rounded saw & other types of saws, drill machine, nail kit, special deck screws, measuring tape, re-adjustable wrench, cool eye glasses, gloves and face mask, hammer, chalk and a home knife.
The following steps should be followed to build a deck box:
A planned study is necessary to decide the quantity of materials required before starting off.
While creating a deck box, the foundation work is taken up initially. The base is usually made of concrete pads fixed on footings.
Upon the base 6 by 6 inches vertically, standing posts are set-up for sustaining the weight of the box.
They are usually situated 6 feet away from each other.
Horizontally placed boards are secured to the posts for anchoring the main footers.
Handrails can be used to beautify the deck box.

Tips to build a deck box:
Firstly, select the correct type of wood and the quantity required. Calculate the length and breadth of the deck box, including the number of railings and order the right quantity of materials for building the deck. Expert guidance may also be required for your building plans. Keep a margin for some wastage of material as well.
The quality of wood that is to be used should be pre-determined.
If you are to use pine boards, make a proposal with the retailer that any unused or faulty lumber will be returned back and also choose your boards carefully. Select the straight ones that are nearly perfect. Always have the boards transported near your work site and keep them fully wrapped until used. Do not tamper with them unnecessarily. Flashings are required for protection of the boards. Use gloves while working with them, as they are very bulky in weight.
Use flashing for the full area where the deck box is in contact with the house.
Usage of the same type of material used for the deck box is recommended for the side of the house where the box will be placed. Fix the top of the deck to that particular mark.
The center of the box should also be marked for beams.
The foot base should have concrete mix for better support. An engineer will be of great help in this regard, as there are many types of footers according to the various deck types. Protection for eyes and face is necessary before working with saws and cutters.
Bore a hole in the concrete pad and put the post support over it, adjusting it with a wrench. Redo it for every anchor post.
Mount joist hangers for every joist, which doubles up the strength of your composition.
