How to Build a Planter
Plants are considered to be one of the most beautiful gifts to mankind by nature. It.s our duty to protect them. Many people grow plants in their
houses but fail to maintain them properly. Individuals face many problems when proper care is not taken. The best place to keep plants would be along
the fence of your house. This will keep the insects that may be present in the plants, preventing them from entering your house. Apart from that, it
will also add beauty to the fence.
The most commonly built planters are made of stone called the “stone planter.” The stone planters are also one of the easiest to construct.
Initially, you need to fix the place where the planter is to be constructed. Take pieces of stone and place them in the four corners of the place where
the planter is to be constructed. After placing the stones, tie a rope connecting all of the stones together. The border of the planter is now ready.
Spread chalk powder along the rope; remove the rope and the stones. The chalk powder now marks the place where the planter is to be constructed.
All we need to construct the planter is stones of your choice, cement and sand. In order to make the foundation of the planter strong; dig a few
inches along the chalk powder and place stones inside the pit, level them with mud. By following the above instructions, you will get a much stronger
foundation. Break the stones into regular structures and start placing them all along the chalk powder. After a layer of stones has been placed, take
some cement in a basin and mix it with sand and water. Make it into a nice mixture. You should also ensure that no lumps are present in the mixture.
Once the mixture of cement is ready, start applying it on the inner portion of the stones so that the outer side of the planter will look natural.
Once the cement has been applied for the first layer, again another set of stones needs to be placed on top of the present layer and the same steps
are repeated. Get a few big stones ready to be placed on top of the planter, as it adds beauty to the planter. Finally apply the cement mixture in the
gaps on the top face of the planter and allow the cement to seep through the ridges. It will take a day for the cement to dry up. The next day slightly
sprinkle water on the cement portion and allow it to dry for another day. This strengthens the cemented portion. That.s it, the stone planter is ready.
Now carefully dig small pits inside the planter and place the plants of your choice. The largest advantage with planters is that the water you pour for
your plants seeps properly into the soil because of the planter has stone walls on four sides and soil at the bottom.
A planter always adds beauty to your house and also acts as a house for the plants.
