Step two: When you begin, you should make sure that you have locked and fastened the corners of the sill plate to the concrete floor, this will ensure ultimate safety. Use concrete anchors as weights. First, drill into the concrete and insert plastic anchors, once this is complete, feel free to secure the sill plate by screwing lag bolts into the plastic anchors.
Step three: Make sure, for maximum safety, that you secure a layer of wood to the top of the sill plate. You can now fit into a set location trim on the lower bottom half of the inside wall for added decoration; this will create for more of a custom look that you and many others will simply
adore.
Step four: Place and secure a stud against the wall at the top of the sill plate, and temporarily fasten it in place. Place the board for the top plate against the ceiling, fastening it on the upright stud by this. You should mark the stud and use this as your guideline.
Step five: Remove the base plates for any of the doorways by cutting them away with a reciprocating saw or handsaw, either or will do. Make sure that if you are not familiar with power tools that you have someone handy nearby that could oversee and help with the whole situation.
These next few steps will tell you how to install the Door frame, Balusters and Top Rail.
Step six: Begin by making a level chalk line, this will be to make a line on the wall studs making them at least 32 inches up from the floor. Cut to the proper length and create a top rail. Toenail screws into the end of 2×4 feet, make sure they are locked and fastened tight and that they are horizontal between two studs.
Step seven: Figure out the length between the top rail and the sill plate. Cut the 2-by-2 foot boards to the same length; re-measure them and cut to the exact length.
