How to Build a Pyramid
How to Build a Pyramid
The Egyptians in the pre-historic period loved pyramids. More than 60 pyramids are spread around the Cairo city of Egypt. According to various different sources, the biggest pyramid contains three tombs, which are adjacent to each other. The Great Pyramid was considered to be the tallest structure in the nineteenth century.
It is a real wonder as to how these Egyptians created such an inspiring structure nearly 45 centuries ago. However, that does not mean that you cannot create your own Egyptian wonder from home. All you need is a bit of ingenuity, craftiness and proper set off instructions and you will be able to create pyramids, almost as impressive as those created at the behest of the ancient Pharaohs.
Required Materials
2 sheets of thin but sturdy cardboard (about 50 cm; square)
Pencil
Felt tip pen
A ruler
A pair of scissors
Paste
Sand
Yellow paint
Instructions
Step one: Start off by drawing a square, 19 cm on each side, in the centre of the first sheet of cardboard.
Step two: Divide the squares in half and draw perpendicular lines that expand 15 cm out from the midpoints of the squares to the sides. These points should be marked as A, B, C and D.
Step three: Carefully draw the lines from every point to the corners of the square that are closest to it. This will leave you with four triangles.
Step four: Try to draw two fastening tabs that are there on the triangles opposite each other. All the tabs should ideally be roughly 2.5 cm wide and 5 cm in length.
Step five: Draw diagonal lines that connect either side of the corners of the base square.
Step six: To get a better look inside the burial chamber of the pharaoh, make an interior view panel.
Step seven: Now you need to draw a triangle. The base line needs to be marked 26.5cm long at the edge of the cardboard.
Step eight: Divide the base line into two equal halves, and mark a point of 13 cm from the edge. Use a right-angled ruler to mark a line which is exactly 12 cm higher than the centre point. Then connect the two top points with the edges of the base line.
Step nine: Inside the panel, draw the diagram of how you want the interior of your pyramid to look.
Step ten: Fold the tabs that you marked as A and B. Fold all of the pyramid tabs onto the front of the triangle.
Step eleven: If you have your measurements right, the interior of the panel will fit perfectly inside the pyramid.
Step twelve: If the interior of the panel has fitted inside the pyramid properly, your pyramid will start taking shape. Now use the glue to stick all of the loose ends of various tabs.
The Base
Step one: Use the stiff cardboard and cut a 30.5cm square.
Step two: Spread glue on it and sprinkle it liberally with a lot of sand. Let it settle for a while and shake off the remnants of all loose sand.
Step three: Use the glue to stick the top of the triangular pyramid to the base and your pyramid is complete.
