How to Install a Dishwasher
Installing a home utility such as the dishwasher is an easy task. The dishwasher will come with an instructional guide. The instructions are very easy to follow.

Here is a simple guide to help you install your dishwasher:
You need to first remove your old dishwasher. This is if you are planning to replace it with a new one. You can just reverse the installation steps given here to remove it.

Make sure you unplug the power or the appliance. It is safer if you shutoff your circuit breaker first before starting this task. You need to also shutoff the water valve underneath the sink and/ or the house’s main water supply valve. The pipes should be drained. This is to open the faucet in your sink.

You should check if there are holes at the lower back portion of sink cabinet. This is where you can insert and pass through the drain hose, power cord and water soppy tube. You can drill holes if you find none.

Check for a separate valve dedicated for the shutoff of the dishwasher. Remove the old shutoff valve if there aren’t any. Place it in a dual-outlet type of shutoff valve.

Start putting in the new shutoff valve dedicated for your dishwasher. The water supply in your house should be turned off first. You can then start disconnecting the sink’s tube for water supply. This is from the shutoff valve.

Drain the water using a bucket. Continue by unscrewing the valve from source or supply nipple using a wrench. Wrap the nipple’s very threads using a pipe-wrap type of tape. Then begin screwing in the dual-outlet valve onto the nipple fixture.

Place the air gap on the sink top of the sink. This is done by inserting it in an unused hole. Secure the air gap from above. Utilize a pair of slip-joint pliers to fasten a locknut. Then push the cover into the right place.

The next step is to position your dishwasher near the opening of the sink cabinet. Insert the power cord, supply tube and hose into the holes. Carefully push in the dishwasher into its place. Make sure you don’t tangle nor pinch the connectors.

Connect the dual valve to the supply tube. Fasten and join the flexible supply tube to second valve outlet. Fasten this together with the dishwasher’s inlet. Adjust and tighten it using a wrench.

The last steps would be to put a hose clamp on each end of your short drain hose. This is lined up from the disposal up to the portion of the large outlet. This is located on the air gap.

Ensure that the clamps are tightened. You should also do the check the longer drain hose. Run the longer drain hose from the small outlet. This is on the air gap up to the drain fitting. These are located at the bottom of your dishwasher.
