How To Use Peep Sights
Introduction
Peep sights are a relatively new shooting accessory. They are used in air guns, bows, and other shooting equipment. Because of their ease of use and the high levels of precision that they make possible, peep sights have proved particularly useful for long-range shooting. They are considered to be much better than open sights.

Step One: Choosing The Appropriate Peep Sight
There are many different peep sights available in the market today. Peep sights used for guns and the weapons used by the military are completely different from those used for archery. Look around and find out as much as you can about peep sights for the instrument you plan to use, and what they can achieve for you. Visit shops and talk to people who already own the peep sights to find out which one works best for you.
Step Two: Starting Out
It will take you some time to get used to a new peep sight. So, after you have short-listed a couple of peep sights, you should try them out at the shop itself to see which one you are most comfortable with. As they can tremendously improve your shooting precision and shooting technique, peep sights are worth purchasing. However, because they are expensive, chances are you will not be investing in them time and again.
Step Three: How To Use The Peep Sight
It is easier to get used to peep sights compared to open sights. To use the peep sight correctly, one needs to position the eye at the peephole or the rear aperture. The eye aligns with the sight element in the front. All you need to do is align the sight element to the target and then shoot. Peepholes of different peep sights vary in size. Medium-sized peepholes are best for long-range shooting. A very small peephole, however, requires good lighting conditions for precision shots. For night shooting, there are special peep sights with night vision installed. These are used mainly in the military and for night hunting by hunters.
Step Four: Practice Makes Perfect!
Peep sights are mainly used for long-range shooting or target shooting. As we have already discussed, it will take time to get used to your new peep sight, so it helps to practice. When you fire a few shots or shoot a few arrows, note where they hit the target or where they land. This will help you to improve your shooting and your technique. In archery, peep sights help the archer ensure that the string is stretched back correctly. With guns, peep sights help the shooter understand the distance or range relative to the target.
Tips
A peep sight is a one-time investment for most, so choose carefully.
