Transjordan Emirates ( Arabic: إمارة شرق الأردن Imārat Sharq al-Urdun), also known as Transjordan and Transjordania , was a British protectorate established in 1921. After the Cairo Conference, the Hashemite dynasty gained this protectorate rule, like in mandatory Iraq. The region was officially under British mandate in Palestine. However, its rule was completely autonomous from Mandatory Palestine. The emirate became an independent state in 1947. In 1947, Transjordan was renamed the Jordanian Hashemite Monarchy.
