There are A number of things that might cause this type of problem with your cinderblock. Often when it is poorly manufactured, it tends to wear and crumble more quickly and easily. Some elements of the interior block are white in color which may be leaving the white residue you are seeing. Factors that can also cause crumbling are excessive weight or pressure being placed on the blocks for a long period of time, heavy amounts of water and physical impact.
