How can I get my cockatiel to eat a balanced diet?

I try to introduce new foods to my cockatiel, but he's not interested in anything but his seed mixture. I've read that it's important for cockatiels to have a varied diet. What can I do to get him to eat more than just seeds?

There are ready made mixtures containing fruits and veggies at your pet supply shop. You can also offer him pieces of fresh fruits and veggies and see which ones he likes best. Use organic fruits and veggies to avoid toxic sprays or if they are not available, wash the food well before offering them to your bird. You can add  a piece of a nut as a treat  or some hard boiled egg yolk, but not too often as they contain a lot of fat.
