answer:I used to own a ‘89 Civic LX, with manual transmission, and at one point, it did what you’re describing; if I recall, the situation worsened as the clutch/clutch plate began to fail (a ~$300 repair back ten years ago); if I were in your shoes, I would have that checked out by a certified Honda mechanic, before you run into major transmission problems (better safe than sorry). I don’t know much about the history of the ‘94 model, but there may possibly be a defect there and a recall you may not be aware of-worth looking into at the very least.
