Over the thousands of cases of each disease each year, if there were a highly correlated relationship, there would be a lot more attention being paid to it. This is the trouble with tabloids picking up small research papers: the sample size was so small (30 cases) as to be statistically meaningless. Insulin resistance may be one of many factors. But way too early to say, “diabetes causes Alzheimers.”
