Necessity of clutch: Clutch is a device, which engage and disengage the engine power to the transmission system. It transmits the rotary motion of the engine to the transmission whenever required. It is located between engine flywheel and the gearbox and mounted on the clutch shaft i.e. transmission input shaft. Clutch provides a means for gradual engagement and disengagement to transmit power and torque smoothly and without jerk.
