I don't know how anybody can think that Quality Checks can operate independent or as a separate action to Quality Assurance. Irrespective of the field of use. Quality Checks are one of the many sub-branches that spread from the Management System or Quality Assurance. I disagree with the foundation of the video. QC's confirm the status of QA. It sounds to me that the use of quality checks in the video refer to repetitive 'clean ups' or 'checks' which in itself is understandable, I would however say that these actions (quality checks) are rather pre-determined compliance specifications and maintenance actions that falls within some of the various QA actions. Quality Checks are not there to remove unwanted problems, it serves as an action to either give you a green, orange or red light with regards to the quality of your management system (QA). QA offers the policies and procedures to measure, in addition to the accepted tolerance and action steps necessary to take. The purpose behind Quality Assurance is continuous improvement; to have a strong management system; to not repeat the same mistakes; to stream-line maintenance and to improve on product/service delivery and customer service.
