Cloning software
PC
Procedure:
Obtain a cloning software. This will allow you to either copy all the files and folders you need, or to completely copy your hard drive. A cloning software allows you to back up important information, or switch to a bigger drive without losing anything from the current PC. You can get a cloning software from an online shopping website or from a local consumer electronics store. Pick one that suits you better.
Check your new disk. It must be larger than the current disk, or just the same size. See your cloning software’s wizard, so the process will be smoother. Many cloning softwares allow you to partition or clone one disk to another.
Select which partition or disk you’re going to clone. In some cloning software, this is labeled as “Source”. Afterwards, choose which new partition or disk you’re going to copy it to, found in the target or destination.
Perform the cloning, and wait for the selected in the source to be transferred and copied to the destination area. If your software has it, make use of advanced feature options to enhance the cloning. Some examples include additional command line options of accessing of external storage device.
Make sure you follow instructions appropriately. Different cloning software operates and runs in different ways. After the cloning software is finished, save the data. You’ll need to restart your computer, too. Check if the new cloned hard drive works.
It’s always good measure to have a backup of your important files and data. Clone your hard drive properly, and you won’t need to worry about your old hard drive crashing or transferring information anymore.
