Even though the name ' Sleeping Paralysis ' sounds strange, if you hear its Bengali name, it will be familiar to many. That is the dumb catch. It is a type of sleeping disorder or parasomnia. Almost everyone has this problem. This problem usually starts in adolescence. Which continues after 30 or so. It is not a life threatening problem but it can lead to depression. Sleeping paralysis usually refers to the loss of sleep or hallucinations during sleep. It lasts from a few seconds to a few minutes. There are three types. Intruder : This is basically the hallucination stage. Visual , auditory , sensory hallucinations can all occur at this stage. At this time it seems that someone is opening the door knob or footsteps can be heard or many people can see something. In short , the presence of something frightening can be felt. Incubus: This stage is basically called dumb catch . In this case, it seems that someone is sitting on the chest. Difficulty breathing , chest tightness. It can feel like death. Most people have this problem. Vestibular motor: I have occasional problems with this step, but I do not know much about this step! It's basically a dream come true. In this case, it seems that I am falling or floating from somewhere. Feeling we have 'Run out of gas' emotionally. Now let's explain why this is. We all know the two stages of sleep , RAM and non-RAM. And people dream at the RAM level. Its length is very short. During this time the body's communication with the brain is somewhat reduced. During sleep, our brain temporarily stops our mobility, including talking , so that we do not get hurt while walking in our sleep. But in the midst of such stagnation we often wake up. That is, sometimes the whole of the conscious part of the brain does not work together. Even if the other senses are active then it takes some time for the movement and speech to return. In the meanwhile temporary paralysis or dumbness is created. There are two types of this condition between sleep and waking. One could be , when you are asleep or awake from waking state. The other may be when you wake up or wake up from sleep. The first is called predermital slip paralysis and the second is called postdermal slip paralysis. There is no worldly reason behind it , but there are some things that do affect it. For example, irregular sleep. Lying down straight (there's a lot of controversy about that) is family history. Reluctance to sleep. People who are in the habit of falling asleep all day or falling asleep suddenly are more likely to have it. Jet lag can also be caused by excess stress . These causes do not need to be identified , but some people suffer from severe paralysis, such as narcolepsy (long-term nervous problems , sleep disorders) , depression , migraines , loss of reality , depression, and so on. They need to take it seriously. There is nothing that can be done to cure sleeping paralysis. Adherence to sleep hygiene rules can have mild benefits. However, most of the problem victims become accustomed to it.
