People with english as a second language, what part or function of english is the most interesting/confusing for you?

1 Answer

Answer :

The lack of unique identify words for family members, especially to differentiate maternal from paternal side. For example, "Uncle". No information in the word on whether it's your mom or dad's side or even just a polite way to call an older stranger, and no indication of whether they are older or younger than your parent. Same for 'cousin' or 'aunt' or even 'grandma'. It's a very vague word without any context.
