Have you asked you neighbor about the invasive trees...............if you saw the roots or put a chemical down to dissolve them could that tree fall and hit your house.  I think that maybe you should invite your neighbor over for ice tea.and cookies...put the table & chairs right where the problem is...................see what they think....2 brains are better than one.......maybe they will help you.....
