Methadone is primarily used as a treatment for the cough or a heroin addiction, and not usually for the treatment of methamphetamine addiction. Also, side effects such as addiction, allergic reaction, irregular heart rate, and sudden death make methadone a "last resort" medication. As such, methadone is not a logical or responsible way to treat a methamphetamine addiction.
