There are several legitmate companies that do offer at-home telemarketing work. Convergys for example. However this is a field that is ripe with scams, so make sure you do some research before applying to any company advertised, and never pay any money for an application process. Tough question. I believe, the answer is both yes, and no. Some of them, of course, are legit, and come with all the responsibility of any regular job, and others may be a scam, it all depends on the company you are dealing with. Most legitimate jobs like this will not charge you a fee for their service, though they may require you to have a land line phone, and/or use their preferred software. Be sure to do your homework before attempting to get into jobs like these. Look for reviews on the company from people who have dealt with them before. Contact the company and ask for more information, like how and when do they pay, what tax forms you need to fill out or file at the end of the year, and so on.
