Kidney disease and complications in children is not a rare problem. Often children suffer from various types of kidney problems. Kidney and urinary tract infections , inflammation and nephrotic syndrome are notable among them. In a special type of kidney disease, the baby's body becomes swollen and watery. This is called nephrotic syndrome. Excessive amounts of protein are excreted in the urine of an infected child , resulting in a decrease in the amount of albumin in the blood. Blood fat levels also increase. Eventually the whole body swells. The disease is most commonly seen in children aged 2-5 years. The disease is relatively more common in boys. At first, the leaves of the two eyes become swollen and the face becomes swollen. Within 2-3 days, water comes in the abdomen , hands , feet and the whole body becomes swollen. With this sometimes the amount of urine decreases , but the color is usually normal. Diagnosis may require some tests , such as checking the amount of protein excreted daily in the urine. It is easily detected by 'heat coagulation test' with urine in the test tube next to the patient's bed. Treatment: 1. Full rest for the first couple of weeks. Eat normal food. However, excess salt in food is prohibited. 2. If any complication is seen with it, it should be remedied. For example, if there is more water in the stomach, it is taken out or if there is water in the chest, it is injected. 3. If there is any infection, its treatment. 4. Steroids are a very effective drug in the treatment of nephrotic syndrome in children , but they must be used in the right dosage and for the right amount of time. This dosage-schedule must begin with hospitalization under the supervision of a pediatrician. About 93 percent of pediatric patients with nephrotic syndrome recover completely. Frequent swelling of the body can be seen even after treatment. Later, in 14-15 years, most of them get better.
