How to Stop Complaining
Life doesn’t come with a Customer Complaints Department, so many people end up just ranting and moaning and complaining about how miserable they are. Chronic complainers tend to have a very pessimistic outlook in life; their complaints can be about anything, and their negativism can affect their lives and the disposition of the people around them. Here are some ways that you can stop yourself from
Look at the Bright Side
Chronic complainers always look at the negative aspect of life, and remain focused on the reasons for them to complain and maintain that negative outlook. A healthy, balanced view of the world and your life can help you avoid more serious problems like depression, anxiety, or other mood disorders.
People complain when something unfortunate or distressing happens to them, but it pays to look at the bright side of life. You can start by looking at failures as opportunities for you to improve your work, your attitude, or your outlook on life.
Know When To Complain
It’s OK to complain every once in a while, but people who make a habit of it often don’t understand why they complain, or when they should complain. Chronic complainers complain about anything and everything, while people in a healthy state of mind would take their complaints in context:
Injustices. When a wrong is done to you, the first recourse is to complain. By complaining, you can set the path to right the wrong. You should use complaints as staging areas for correcting errors, though, instead of living your life making them.
Unfairness. It’s OK to complain that life is not fair, but you should also consider that you reap what you sow and you get what is due you.
Release. Complaining is a way of releasing your frustrations. A healthy amount of complaining can give you the release you want from some things you don’t like about life.
Remember that every complaint should always be put into context. First, you have to learn to accept that things have their highs and lows that you have to deal with. Second, you have to realize that for every problem you have to whine about, there’s a bigger problem out there that makes your own problem pale in comparison.
Do Something About It
The reason why many people hate whiners is that while they rant and rave about problems, they can never seem to arrive at a solution to a problem. Instead of whining and complaining, you should take the time to come up with constructive approaches to resolve the problem. It’s all right to complain at the beginning to release the emotional burden, but then you should come up with solutions that can set you on the right track for a positive outlook in life.
Complaining is healthy and helpful in reasonable doses, but some people can easily get addicted and dependent on it. With these steps, you can take the right path to change yourself and to change the world in the process.
