It is not right to call a wife a sister and a husband a brother out of love. Because it has been forbidden in Hadith Sharif. In the hadith, my father said: فَكَرِهَ ذَلِكَ وَنَهَى عَنْهُ . A man called his wife sister. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) disliked it when he heard it and forbade him to call it that way. (Sunan Abu Dawood , Hadith 2204) So one should refrain from such address. However, there will be no harm in the marital relationship due to this. - Addurrul Mukhtar 6/418 ; Fathul Qadir 4/91 ; Albahroor Rayek 4/96 Moreover, there is a possibility that people will be deceived by such an address . By addressing the sister , she intends that just as my sister is forbidden to me , so are you forbidden to me ; Then it becomes 'Zihar'. In this case, the wife becomes haraam until the husband pays the 'expiation'. And the expiation for zihar is to observe two consecutive months of fasting or to feed 60 poor people. - Surah Al-Mujadalah-03
